  1. Wow… sounds like you’re really making this work! Wealthy Affiliate is a pretty amazing community and the lessons for learning affiliate marketing are really well done. I’m just starting my own making-money-online with affiliate marketing “journey”… I look forward to getting where you are! Congrats on your success so far!

  2. I have literally had your website open for a few hours. I have followed link after link and learned a whole lot when I am at a time of a slump.
I was only intending to leave you a quick comment and say hello.
I now have things clearer in my mind and the resources to do that and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I am now having that lightbulb moment.

    • Andi, what a lovely comment… thank you 🙂

I’m glad some of this stuff is helping you, it takes a while for all the pieces to align.

  3. I as well have joined affiliate marketing but I seem to be not doing the right thing because it just keeps getting harder and harder. I have joined the affiliate program but I do not even have enough money to pay off for the next month. Please get back to me if you are willing. Thank you.

    • Hi Mofya, and thanks for your comment. I’m sorry affiliate marketing isn’t working out as quickly as you’d have liked. A small percentage of people just ‘get it’ and can start out successful, however most people (myself included) take a lot longer.

It’s hard to learn and implement at the same time. Plus there can be too much to learn if you take on too much at once and become overwhelmed.

The WA system of doing keyword research and then writing solid content works to attract visitors to your website… if your not attracting visitors you need to stop and re-do that training.

If you’re getting visitors to your site (presume you have Google analytics) you should then be able to see if they’re doing what you want them to do (clicking through your affiliate links, joining your email list, clicking on ads on your site, something else).

If your getting visitors but Google analytics is showing you that they’re not ‘converting’ (doing what you want them to do) it means you have a content problem. Your content isn’t compelling enough for your visitors. Again go back and re-do this training and practice improving your content.

If you’re attracting visitors and they’re doing what you want… congratulations you’re nearly there. But if everything is working and still your not making commissions you need to consider the product and market you promoting, test alternate offers.

Some markets like the make money online market are very tough, people are cautious and suspicious (rightly so), in this situation it’s about learning more about the market and your visitors, what are their most pressing problems, and how can you help them solve those problems.

Without knowing more about what your doing it’s hard to offer anything more specific.

If you’re a WA member or if you’re on my email list get in touch and I’ll see if I can help you.

      Richard 🙂

  4. Your results seem to be pretty fair!
After studying a few graphics I realised that people tend to succeed pretty darn suddenly!
One month you are earning 500$, and the next one you could jump all the way up to 1500$, and double it after that!
There are so many factors to consider, that just a simple twist in google’s time parameters could lead to unexpected results.

    Cheers, Vlad!

    • Yes, I guess it can move fast when you’ve found ‘your’ system.

It took me a while to find an approach that suits me (I have a long list of stuff I don’t like doing…)

Am now working on scaling things up, though so far seeing a steady incremental increase rather than any g-force level acceleration.

  5. Thanks for giving such great insides of your journey in affiliate marketing; it is encouraging to see if you work hard you will get there. The information and the views can be of great help to many out there, working hard to build a strong channel partnership for their business. Quality counts more than quantity in affiliate marketing!

  6. I pick up a lot from your website.I picked up some new inormation about SEO, and freelance writing.I really spent a long time on your site. I go to looked around and I have a few questions.

How long is the trial version with wealthy affiliate?

When picking a place to write for how much writing skills will I have to have?

Is there one you use more then the other?

    • Hi LeNard, thanks for questions.

Wealthy Affiliate offers an unlimited free membership duration with 2 free websites.

The idea with the free membership is to provide a ‘safe’ environment for people to test out WA and their ideas.

Full access to other WA members is restricted to the first 7 days of free membership. I belief this access is very valuable and to get the most out of it requires a little preparation.

WA has a lot of very successful members who are all willing to help, so I would strongly suggest that newbies do a little research and really ask questions and interact with other members.

Like many skills writing skills improve with practice, and I would say the important part is writing honestly, about topics that interest you. Honesty and passion for your subject will likely make up for any weaknesses in writing skills.

      Hope this helps 🙂

  7. Hey there,

I absolutely love the fact that you shared your personal experience on online marketing. And in a more early stages at that. You really shared a very honest review here and I learned quite a bit from just this post.

I’m also a member of Wealthy Affiliate for a year now. And while I’ve seen some successes. they are not major or sustainable. Sometimes I wonder if I did something wrong!

I’ll be hanging around your site to learn more.

    Thanks a bunch for sharing!

    Cheers,
    Anh

    • Hi Anh,

I did lot’s wrong in the beginning. Gave me many false dawns.

WA teaches a solid long term approach to gaining visitors (free, paid and social) and providing those visitors value which in turn can earn you money.

It’s like you mum’s secret recipe, it often takes a frustrating amount of trial and effort before you see results.

Keep at it, enjoy the failure knowing your edging closer to your goals…

  8. Fascinating how you’re able to make a substantial income simply through affiliate marketing! Kudos to you and I’m sure it was a lot of work.

Personally I’d love to have similar results but.. I’m afraid if I pay for the Wealthy Affiliate membership I won’t be able to spend lots on time there, as I’m a student. Do you think I can make it work? Or are there other avenues you would recommend for someone like me?

    • Yes, I think you can do it.

There are many success stories from people with limited time, and I read only this week that Kyle (WA founder) started his journey as a student.

The reason I was attracted to affiliate marketing in the first place was it’s affordability and to some extent speed. True building up a loyal following through something like blogging probably takes months / years…

But finding a good affiliate product to promote, writing a review of that product and then sending pay per click traffic to that review can be done in an afternoon… they don’t all make great profits, but some do… and they pay month in month out.

You also have a great advantage… you’ve grown up with the Internet and if you’re anything like my daughter you’ll likely be a ninja compared with me regarding tech and social media… you probably don’t realize yet how much you already know?

Thanks for commenting and good luck 🙂

  9. Hi,
Reading the page that was posted in the WA portal it appears that you have set up quite a list of reasonable goals for yourself in really getting your online business off of ground in promoting WA.
I kind of agree with you about solely doing reviews of scam online businesses on websites. My angle a bit different from yours is that with readers seeing nothing but negativity among thousand of similar sites they come away with the feeling that ALL such business ventures are bogus scams.

I much prefer mixing it up including promoting legit businesses that have proven to help people build success financially online. THEN I promote WA to compare its program against the positive sites to allow people to study the differences.

    • Hi Jeff, yes I like that idea a lot.

There is good training and advice out there, not just WA.

I think the key to success is finding a system and mentor that suits you, not always easy to spot without trying a few things and risking a few mistakes.

Good luck with your plan and thanks for commenting

  10. A very interesting read indeed. I’m curious what efforts you use to build your email list? I get about 60-70 leads per day using a combination of Instagram, Lead Pages and AWeber. Whether the money is in the list is another issue entirely, but numbers can be added quickly if you use the right strategies on social media. Email me if you’d like some help 🙂

    • Hi Iain, thanks for your message. Though I’ve set myself a large subscriber list target I’m a little reluctant to go for all out volume. I’ve built my list faster in the past but seen a drop in open rates and engagement.

Also, I don’t have any expensive back end products that I’m promoting so I’m a little more frugal with my targeting.

My current approach is Bing PPC (niche targeted keywords) Thrive Leads (email capture) and Active Campaign email auto-responder.

I’ll drop you a mail because I’m always interested in other ways.

  11. A good retrospective post.
Particularly helpful was the suggested resources like Photoscrape and Thrive Content Builder. I haven’t used these before but due to your recommendations I will be looking at ways I can integrate these into my websites.
I would like to read further products reviews from you. It seems we have similar needs and goals.

    • Hi Keith, thanks for your feedback.

Yes, I do plan on doing more reviews but I wanted to do a free training post / email series first.

A distillation of what works best for me, as when I review myself it’s clear that most of the good stuff comes from a very small % of my work… extreme 80:20.
